Unit IX of the Crime Branch raided the spa after receiving a tip. Six Thai ladies were saved during the mission. The owner and manager of the spa were detained at the Vile Parle police station after the rescue.
According to an official, during the raid, the authorities took various things from the spa, including cash, a laptop, condoms, a point of sale terminal, and other paperwork. The six ladies who had been rescued were given over to the Vile Parle police for additional investigation. They were all on tourist visas and did not have work permits. Following the inquiry, it was decided that they would be deported via the Thai embassy.
The owners of the spa, Shura Khan and Sumit Singhania, were accused of violating the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and certain sections of the Indian Penal Code in relation to human trafficking.
